After reading from the Livebinder classwork assignment, I was able to gain an understanding of what websites need to be considered good websites. It isn't simple and there are many reasons that go into determining whether a website is bad or good. After reading, I learned that a good website needs to have 4 fundamental principles. It needs to have a purpose, be aesthetically pleasing, be relevant, and have original content, and lastly needs to have clear site navigation. Within these principles, good websites also should have a visual website design, technical website design, website tools, and Google Analytics.
The two websites that I chose were Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist. I think Facebook Marketplace can be considered a good website because it has a clear purpose, which is to show what people are selling around you. It is aesthetically pleasing because it has images, designs, nice colors, and is very organized. Facebook marketplace is also relevant because it shows people what other people are selling and even filters those options for you if needed. Lastly, the site is very easy to use. It is fast, has mobile friendliness, can be trusted, and has many tools that allow people to use the site for personal reasons more easily. Craiglist however is very cluttered and not pleasing to the eye. As soon as you are brought to Craigslist, you are overwhelmed with way too many words and information on the homepage. The website is fast and navigates well only if you know how to use it or if you are familiar. Craigslist does not have mobile friendliness. And since the site is so messy, there isn't much trust when it comes to buying items off this site versus Facebook Marketplace.
Hi Lauren,
ReplyDeleteI 100% agree with you on these websites Facebook marketplace is good because you can find mostly anything and it allows you to connect with many people across the world. It is easy to get the items as well when it comes to shipping and picking up. On the other hand, Craigslist is unorganized as you said and the sit is overwhelming and is difficult to navigate. Great job comparing these two websites.
Hi Lauren, I think a messy site such as Craigslist is such a red flag as soon as you open it. Facebook marketplace does a very well job presenting its purpose and what it should be used for.
ReplyDeleteHey Lauren,
ReplyDeleteI have bought and sold on Facebook Marketplace before and I have had no problems at all. I have met some really nice people on there as well. I also like that Facebook Marketplace is making you involved in your community. I have never used Craigslist before, but I have heard mixed reviews about it. I thought the points that you made about Craigslist also stood out to me about how it is unorganized. Very Well Done!
Hi Lauren,
ReplyDeleteI used FaceBook marketplace to look for new books or home decor. FaceBook marketplace also customizes your experience and shows you things you would potentially like. I have not used Craigslist before but upon viewing your video I can see how confusing and jumbled the website is. Craigslist is not user friendly when it comes to navigation and utilization. Great work!
Hi Lauren,
ReplyDeleteYou made great points when describing each website and explaining the difference between both. I like how you said facebook marketplace has clear purpose and show exactly what they're selling. It was important to add that craigslist's website is not as visually pleasing and cluttered. These are points that will separate a good website from a bad one.
Hi Lauren. I completely agree with you. I’ve been using Facebook Marketplace to buy and sell for the longest time and have had no issues whatsoever. I normally try to stay away from Craigslist because it normally always gets a bad rap. I, personally, have never heard good things about it, so that’s why I’ve managed to stay away and find other alternatives, like Facebook Marketplace. Just from taking a quick look at Craigslist, I can immediately see how cluttered it is. I, personally, do not like unorganized websites as they tend to overwhelm me. As a consumer, I always prefer for my shopping experience to be simple, easy, and straightforward. It’s clear that that is not the case with Craigslist. I really liked your comparisons you showed in your video. Great job!
ReplyDeleteHello, Lauren!
ReplyDeleteI really like how you narrated so well and clearly, and thoroughly showed us how to use this feature on facebook. I actually think a lot of individuals may have issues using this as a result of it being as complex as it is compared to other sites. There is also another major concern with the safety of the sight. There are a lot of scammers, unfortunately. Otherwise, I agree! I liekthe comparison, it definitely drives home your point! Great job!
Hey Lauren,
ReplyDeleteFacebook Marketplace is a great place to sell items. I have used Facebook Marketplace and had no issues with it. Craigslist seems like a very disorganized website and causes complications for everyone except the expert users. It also doesn't help that Craigslist isn't available on mobile devices. Well done!
Hi Lauren,
ReplyDeleteI think you did a really god job detailing these websites. Upon me checking out each website, I completely agree with what you said. Craigslist homepage has no pictures, it's no pleasing to the eye, it has way to many words, and is difficult to navigate. Facebook marketplace however has pictures, is easy to navigate, and is overall much more organized.
